We are a group of artists working together to provide other artists in our area with a venue for displaying and selling their creations. Our objective is simply to promote the arts and encourage artists by promoting their work to our local community.
Jan is an artist, pastel instructor and art curator residing in Palm Coast, FL. She is an active member of First Coast Pastel Society, Florida Woman’s Art Association, Palm Coast Art Foundation, and the Gargiulo Art Foundation. When living in ABQ, NM, she owned Dreamscapes Gallery where she showed her own work and that of local professional artists. In 2012, she was commissioned to create the poster for Globalquerque, the well-known international music festival. In that year, her art was featured in the international issue of Pride Guide Magazine.
Jan holds a BA in Fine Art and Art History and a MA in Teaching. She taught elementary school in the Chicago area for 20 years and was foremost in putting “The Bay Area Writing Project” into use in her school district. Upon retirement in 1989, she pursued a career in art. Her background in fine art, art history, and travel emerges in her use of surrealism, color and whimsy. In 2010, Jan received a commission from Phoenix Children’s Hospital for twenty pastels in a style she calls, “Dreamscapes”. Jan’s colorful, joyful pastels hang, one in each treatment room, cheering the young patient. Jan’s many awards are local, national, and international, and her work among many private collections.
Wherever she resided, Jan became involved in the art community. Currently Jan shows her work in art group shows and enters on-line competitions. For several years until their closing, she taught pastel painting at The Flagler County Art League. She formed a group, Flagler County Pastel Painters, and encouraged group shows. In 2020, she was awarded Best of Show in The Members Show of First Coast Pastel Society. The Gargiulo Art Foundation named her 2020 Artist of the Year with a retrospective show at Galleria d'Arte in Palm Coast. Jan is among the turtle painters of Palm Coast sponsored by The Palm Coast Art Foundation. Her turtle, Vinnie, sits in front of the Community Center and is a favorite of the children who come to play in the adjacent park.
In 2019, Jan was asked to curate art shows at Grand Gallery in Palm Coast. She organized shows for local artists and groups, keeping the gallery open during the two years of the pandemic while every local art organization was forced to close. Her recent project is the formation of a team of professional artists whose goal is to revamp the gallery space. Their goal is to be a prominent presence in the community, providing a venue for artists and groups to display their work.
Judi Wormeck is a mixed media paper artist, academically trained in the arts with concentrations in education, design, and studio arts. She is an award winning artist and her work is in many private collections.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Art is a continually evolving process in which I use my media to accomplish a personal vision. Never content to use materials in a traditional way, my work reflects a need to explore and experiment in an innovative manner. My collages often combine papers of all sorts, paints and glazes, graphics, metals, fibers, glass, and textural elements. My use of a limited color pallet gives energy, drama, and a framework to mostly abstract and flowing forms. The process is like creating a puzzle. The end result is a labor of love.
Maggie Corder is a native of Georgia, born in Atlanta and lived in various north Georgia locations until moving to Palm Coast where she is now “LIVING THE DREAM!”
Art was the road not taken when deciding on career choices, family and a decent salary came first. After working in accounting and information technology systems, retirement allowed Maggie the opportunity and freedom to pursue art.
Maggie has little formal art training and continues learning and experimenting with different mediums, techniques and styles. To date, acrylic remains her medium of choice. Favorite subject matter for paintings are scenes that tell a story. Every painting represents a real place, event, or story that inspired her emotions.
Maggie served as a director at the Sharptop Arts Association in Jasper Georgia and the Flagler County Art League in Palm Coast Florida. Also, was a member of Gilmer Arts and Heritage Association, the Mountain Artists Group in Jasper Georgia, and the Gargiulo Art Foundation in Palm Coast.
Mike originally started out as a math teacher for 38 years in a suburb of Detroit, Mi. Upon retirement his chapter two career took him to a very different avenue. He always had a great interest in and love of art as he and his wife have built up a large collection of various artists over the past 50 years. It was at this point in his life that he started producing art on his own.
While he doesn’t hold a list of professional academic art instruction to present he attributes his ability to a God given gift and as he states; “Who could ask for anything more!”
Since moving to Florida in 2006 he has been a very active member in the Flagler County Art League until it’s close at the beginning of the pandemic. It was there that he not only volunteered his time but also displayed and sold his work. As to style of art, he vacillates between realism, cubism and abstract expressionism. He prefers to work with acrylics, colored pencil, pastels and pen an ink. He was recently selected to do the cover on a book about the life of St. Joseph which was published last year. He looks forward to his involvement with Art Expressions and eager to help local artists display and market their work.
Ron majored in art at Arkansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Although he did not pursue an art career, Ron has maintained a love for and desire to paint throughout his life. Since retiring in 2012, Ron has actively pursued his creative passion, working primarily in acrylic, and occasionally in oil and watercolor. He describes his painting style as eclectic, deriving ideas, style, and taste from a broad and diverse range of sources and subjects.
Ron has received a number of awards in both juried and non-juried shows. One of his acrylic paintings was selected for publication in the first edition of North Light’s book series “AcrylicWorks-The Best of Acrylic Painting” first published in 2014. His work is represented in private collections in Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, and Tennessee.
